Johannes Hildebrandt brought his wife and five sons to the Klein area from Prussia in 1873. Shortly after arriving in Texas, however, Johannes died from heat stroke. Johannes' sons established families and farms for themselves. One son, John, built a house near the present railroad crossing on Hildebrandt Road and operated a nearby sawmill. His grandson, Paul, later sold the land to the school district, where Hildebrandt Intermediate School was then built.
